Deadline for the online survey on camping for “The Whitepaper on Camping 2016”

The National Camping Association of Japan has launched an online survey on camping.

They will mark their 50th anniversary in 2016. As a celebratory project, they plan to publish “The Whitepaper on Camping 2016”. This survey aims to collect basic camping information from all over the world. The results of this survey, as well as statistical analysis, will appear in the “The Whitepaper on Camping 2016”.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could take the time to fill out and return this questionnaire.

The deadline is December 14, 2015.

2015 ICDC in China

An International Camp Directors Course will be held in April 6-9, 2015 at IDEAS campsite in Bei Daihe District, where is three hours drive from Beijing downtown. The course is preceding the China Camp Education Conference in Beijing, China. International camping professionals are welcome to participate.

The purpose of the ICDC is to provide a quality training program that stimulates an exploration of successful international camp management practices that have some consistency throughout the world.

The ICDC is a program of the International Camping Fellowship. Trainers are Andrew McGuckian from Australia, Tennant Kiu from Singapore and Connie Coutellier USA. For more information and registration details:

The 14th International "Childhood Planet" exhibition of goods and services for children, took place in St. Petersburg, Russia on Mar 26-29, 2015.    

150 companies from Belarus, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, and Turkey displayed their samples in 8000 sq. meters hall for the consideration of a huge amount of visitors.  

A significant segment of the exhibition was devoted to children and youth camps. 30 camps from the St. Petersburg area, Crimea and other parts of Russia and Belarus had a chance to introduce their services to about 12000 visitors, parents and children.

The event was organized by ExpoForum - International. Recently this organization became an ICF member. Please visit www.expoforum.ru for more information. ExpoForum-International is very pleased by the positive feedback about this exhibition and hopes that more camps from Russia and other countries will take part in the 2016 "Childhood Planet" Exhibition.

  2-6/2/2015  Training camp for leaders of children’s camps “The Island of Good Hopes”, Novosibirsk, Russia

What: A training event, for camp leaders, a place for exchanging of experience. The participants are going to get acquainted with traditions and the experience of the Siberian school of the game pedagogies and show their own experience. They are going to learn how to lead different games with children and adults. There are the games and animation programs, team building events and different shows and also, lessons with pedagogues, psychologists and the greatest specialists of the sphere of children’s rest, health-improvement and pedagogical animation.

When: From February 2 to 6, 2015

Where: the children’s camp “Timurovets” – one of the best camps of Novosibirsk (ranks – “Master-Camp” and “The Best Camp of Russia” in 2004). The camp is located at the 40th km from the center of Novosibirsk.

International Camping Fellowship Pre-Conference Camp Tour - USA

Tour B-
 This tour (Sunday, 8:00 am-Tuesday, Noon) of Louisiana youth programs, camps, and local attractions will include facilitated discussions of camp and youth programs in the USA and around the world. Special activities and meals are planned to represent local culture and foods.

Tour lodging (not included in fee) is based at the La Quinta Inn-New Orleans Airport, Kenner, LA. To make hotel reservations at the special rate of $76.50 per night plus tax(includes breakfast), contact Linda Pulliam-lpulliam@campingfellowship.org.  Deadline for this rate, January 5, 2015. The group will meet each morning at the La Quinta Inn for transportation to the scheduled sites, returning to the hotel each evening.

The tour registration fee is $165  USD and includes transportation, admission fees, snacks, and four meals. An International Camp Director Course (ICDC) will be offered at Nunyara Conference Centre, Adelaide Hills, South Australia, from August 18-21, 2014.  International camping professionals are very welcome to participate. The course has been developed as a professional development course for camp managers, directors and operators and other experienced outdoor professionals. The curriculum in Australia has been adapted to align with the local industry.

ICDC Mexico at Campamento Esperanza

An ICDC was held in Mexico with 26 participants from Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia completing the course. The 26 participants agreed that the course was outstanding and it met or exceeded their expectations. In regards to the course content the overall rating was 4.5/5 and logistics was rated with a 4.4/5.

The training team was Simon Sambrano and Juan Mario Gutierrez, Lead Trainers and Tomas Lopez Victoria and Giuliana Paulova del Castillo D, Presenters. The course was graciously hosted by Mexican Camping Association (MCA).

ICDC Malaysia

An ICDC was held in Malaysia with 14 participants from Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Philippines completing the course.

The training team included Hank K. Yap from Malaysia, Andrew McGuckian from Australia, and Tennant Kiu from Singapore. The inaugural ICDC in Malaysia was only made possible through the enormous contribution of Hank and his camp Outbac Broga.

There are plans to consider an ICDC in Malaysia in 2013. Fantastic relationships were established and another ongoing camping network across countries.

September 2012

International Camp Directors Course (ICDC) in Australia

An ICDC was held in Australia with 28 participants (26 from across Australia and 2 from New Zealand) completing the course.

The training team included 5 trainers, Paul Colagiuri, John Woods, Maree Feutrill, Matt Bowker, and Rebecca Fox. Australia has a very solid team of trainers and has offered a number of courses.

The 1st Japan Outdoor Education Society International Research Forum (IRF) at
15th Japan Outdoor Education Society (JOSE) National Conference took place in Okinawa, Japan - www.joes.gr.jp


JOSE-IRF intends to provide an opportunity for outdoor practitioners and scholars to share the Eastern and Western outdoor research, as well as those among Asian countries. The Forum was held in conjunction with the 15th JOES National Conference in Okinawa with a variety of research presentations and practical workshops. The abstract papers and presentations in the Forum were all in English, though the national conference was held in Japanese. Presenters had 12 minutes to present their research and three minutes for questions and aswers.
